Risks of muscle wasting from weight loss drugs revealed/basitfitnesstv
LONDON: A pharmaceutical company has warned that weight-loss injections can cause muscle contractions in patients.
In the UK, injectables such as Vigovi (which acts like a hormone to make the body feel full) have been approved to tackle the obesity crisis. But Pascal Soriot, the owner of AstraZeneca, the famous COVID vaccine, warned that the injections could cause patients' muscles to contract.
Doctors warned some time ago that these injections cause the user to have a higher ratio of fat to muscle and may regain weight when the medication is stopped.
According to Pascal, using the drug, users lose weight as well as fat and muscle.
He said that as soon as most people stop taking the medication, they will start to gain fat but not muscle.
According to experts, the weight loss drug market will be worth billions of dollars in the coming years.
Pascal Soriot added that pharmaceutical companies need to improve the quality of weight loss drugs by paying particular attention to two things. First , the effects of the drug should not wear off when taken and second, should be no side effects such as muscle wasting.
